OUR GOAL
The Montessori Children's House of Colorado at Littleton (the "School") is
dedicated to the idea, that all children deserve the opportunity to
experience educational and social success regardless of personality or learning style. Our goal is to
nurture the child's normal desire for independence and sense of self-accomplishment.
We achieve this
through teaching and demonstrating self-discipline, self-motivation, concepts
of ownership of responsibility, and critical thinking skills. We encourage
social independence through modeling Kindness, Courtesy, Respect, and
Benevolence towards society. The School seeks to establish a link between
the child and the society's wealth of knowledge. A "love of learning", and
a high retention of information is fostered using the Montessori Method in
a carefully prepared environment. Our ultimate goal is to provide our
students with the advantages and all the skills necessary for them to
compete and succeed in our quickly changing technological society.

OUR HISTORY
The School was established in 1984 by Kim Ashcroft. She found a great
residential location in
Littleton where the school was opened in a church. Marjorie Ewing became
an employee in September 1987. She was so impressed with the Montessori
Method and it's positive effect on children, she completed the Montessori training
in May of 1988 with the Montessori Education Center of the Rockies.
Fortune found Marjie just two
months after receiving her certification. Kim Ashcroft would be moving
with her husband. Marjie purchased the school in July 1988. That same
month, the church in which they were located no longer had room for the
school. It was forced to move twice before finding a long lasting home off
E. Panama Dr. in Littleton. The school grew and flourished there before
size restrictions forced the move to our current facility.
Margie continues to own,
administrate, and teach in our current facility at 7945 S. Broadway. Her
dedication to children and belief in the Montessori Method have caused the
school to succeed these many years. She currently employs a number of
staff members who share her continued commitment to children and their
future.
